IT professional to Process analysis and Improvment

Hi,
It's been many years since I gradutaed and started in Information Technology.I got a chance to work on a BPM tool last year. During this time, I got to know about process methodologies like Six sigma. I instantly got intrested. During my career, I have never seen use of process improvment techniques in IT. Now, I want to progress my career from IT to Process analysis and improvment but do not know how feasible it will be and what i can bring to it. Cansomebody guide me on this?
