Catalyst Sponsors Best Process Improvement Project Under 90 Days at the 11th Annual Process Excellence Summit and Awards
Catalyst was certainly busy at the 11th Annual Process Excellence Summit and Awards! As well as presenting our very popular and well received workshop: Steering out of the Recession – Applying Lean and Six Sigma For Everyday Operational Excellence; Catalyst was very pleased to sponsor the Best Process Improvement Project under 90 days award won by Shepherd Neame Ltd, with BAA receiving a Honorary Mention.
Shepherd Neame Ltd, Britain’s oldest brewer, won the award for a dramatic inventory reduction project that halved its drinks inventory and significantly increased produce availability levels (customer order fill) at the same time. This project was a first step in a programme focused at introducing Lean Sigma thinking and methods into the supply chain of one of the UK’s most traditional companies.

Shepherd Neame is an independent family business, trading for more than 300 years, which prides itself on its individuality. The integrated brewery and pub operator, based in Faversham, Kent, has on-site manufacturing and production facilities and warehousing in a purpose-built distribution centre.
John Morgan, Catalyst Consulting, said: “It is impressive to see that a company that has been around for 300 years is willing to take a fresh look at the way it works and has the vision to take the measures required to continue its success for another 300.”
Vanessa Lovatt, Director, Six Sigma&Process Excellence IQ, said: “This year we received entries from an incredibly diverse range of organisations, from Fortune 100 organisations to local public sector organisations. Thanks to our judges’ help developing the Awards criteria, we are able to pick out crucial elements of each entry and select those that stand out above the rest. These Awards help both winners and finalists to gain continued support and engagement for their improvement programmes as they strive for even greater results over the next 12 months”.
