My client is a global manufacturing company in need of a Lean engineer/expert to join its central team based in Paris.
The CI programme is being expanded to incorporate every facet of the company at a global level and they have charged Pacific International with recruiting high potential engineers with a strong background in Lean Manufacturing.
Although many of the maintenance tools commonly associated with Lean are important to the role, the position is more suited to the candidate who has an “internal supply chain” experience- ie reduction of inventory through application of pull production methods and a real understanding of the value stream from purchasing through to logistics.
Some of the plants are further ahead in the deployment so emphasis will be given to those lagging behind and the more strategically important hubs.
Considering the size of the company and the fact that the programme is reaching out to back office processes as well as the production area, there is huge scope for a successful career and a rapid rise up the ranks.
The client is looking for candidates with genuine potential as well as a deep understanding of flow. You will be an internal consultant reporting directly to a member of the “Comité de direction” for France whilst your general day to day business will be conducted with the aid of production / supply chain and quality managers – not to mention the Lean “navigators” for each individual plant (who you will be supporting).
It goes without saying that you will require a “change manager” mindset. As with all deployments, your biggest test will be to convince the shopfloor why new techniques are necessary. Good communication, organisation and motivation are imperative.
