Management
•The Fleet Manager will make the vehicles available to the Logistics Manager and is responsible for selection and managing of drivers in their capacity as custodian of the vehicles.
•He/she will have all the movement registered and in cooperation with the LM plan improvements in utilization with maintained or improved service level.
•Creates and monitors KPIs for the fleet
•He/she will take initiative in specifying the fleet requirement, inclusive working on issues like Telematics.
•He/she will be responsible for running the container haulage and will be key person in any overland haulage activity
•Is responsible for all maintenance activities and cost.
•Ensures that the total fleet cost is optimized through available means when applicable;
•Own units
•Leased units
•Own maintenance
•Outsourced maintenance
•Replacement program to ensure the unit is sold of at the optimal moment in its economical life
•Is part of the management team of SCM; contributes to setting objectives and review performance in all areas of SCM Operations. Keeps abreast of technological development in the field of logistics and conveys best practices to colleagues.
•Liaises with fleet operators in the BU’s who currently don’t use SCM Ops vehicles and identifies synergies are activities which can be better solved with SCM-Ops involvement or cooperation.
•Ensure best practices and continuous improvements in fleet management leading to lower cost and optimized service agreed with the users through SLA.
•Ensuring continuous review of optimal use of fleet and resources.
“Owner” of the fleet
•Ensures that presence of right type of vehicles which make Supply Chain Operation the most efficient operator of such fleet in the region, inclusive complying with laws and regulations, and the health and safety of drivers and users.
•That includes also ensuring that the fleet is correctly equipped with lashing and use of material to protect the goods.
•Is responsible for insurance issues related to ownership and running of the fleet.
Customer focus
•Ensuring that that on no occasion lack of fleet resources will be stated as reason for service failure.
•Ensuring that there is a SLA regarding all services or clear documented understanding of agreed requirements and cost.
Systems
•Ensuring optimized use of systems (mainly SAP initially) in close coordination with SCM Business Solution Manager.
HR
•Responsible for selection, training and regular assessment of his/ her subordinates.
•Identify, motivate and grow future leaders, inclusive of nominate staff for training
•Setting standards which should be clear to employees and taking actions so those who are unable to maintain the standards are made aware of their shortcomings early on and separated if they are unable to maintain set standard
Safety and Quality
•Responsible for strict implementation of best practices and adherence regarding Health and Safety,
•Regular training and when required certification of staff
•Being knowledgeable about local laws regulations regarding named issues
