Purpose and Objectives
The next i&i Community Network Meeting will bring together professionals representing programmes at various different stages of maturity for collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
Attendees will:
• Recognise where their programme is on the maturity ‘curve’ and what this means.
• Identify the stages where transition is typically required and why.
• Have more reference information so they are better equipped to successfully make transitions.
• Be better placed to provide more value in the form of reduced costs and increased efficiencies.
As a change programme matures, opportunities arise for greater efficiencies, cost reductions and profit increases. We refer to ‘Maturity’ in the context of development and growth, from deployment (the beginnings of a change programme, where the ideas, tools and strategy are introduced to the company) to ‘Business As Usual’ (the goals of the programme are achieved, the principles and ideas are ingrained within the organisation, and a culture exists within the business where improvement is constantly sought). This journey has been visually expressed as a curve on a graph by some of our members, identifying common issues at specific stages of maturity.
Whilst every programme is unique, during deployment the focus tends to be on raising the awareness of the programme, getting people involved and achieving visible results, usually measured in cost savings. Once a programme has demonstrated its’ worth and has been accepted by the organisation, it is in effect moving up the Maturity Curve. As it does so, many leaders within organisations have found that in order to sustain the improvements there should be a shift in the focus and strategy of the programme. This can include areas such as: concentrated alignment with the company’s strategic goals, greater control and documentation of processes, targeted improvements for the biggest gains and company-wide expansion of the programme.
A significant challenge facing leaders managing change programmes today is knowing when to make the shifts in focus and strategy for maximum gain and minimum pain. The next i&i Members Community Network Meeting will provide attendees with information and knowledge to deal with this important issue for their own benefit.
